Known limitations
- Posts from protected accounts cannot be resolved — X blocks them at the source, and no tool can work around that.
- Some X videos are served without an audio track. That is how the post was uploaded, not a fault in the download — the file really is silent, and Likee Downloader labels it "video only" before you download it.
- X serves MP4 only. There is no audio-only (MP3) download for this platform.
Frequently asked questions
How do I download a video from X (Twitter)?
Open the post, copy its link, paste it into the box above and pick a rendition. Likee Downloader fetches the file X's own player uses, so you get the original upload rather than a re-encoded copy.
Can I download X videos on my phone?
Yes. Open Likee Downloader in Safari on iPhone or Chrome on Android, paste the link and tap Download. On iPhone the file lands in Files; on Android it goes to your Downloads folder.
Why does my downloaded X video have no sound?
Because the post itself carries no audio track. Most X posts store video and audio together, but some are uploaded silent, and the player you watched it in does not tell you which. Likee Downloader labels those renditions "video only (no sound)" before you download them.
Is there a download limit?
There is a per-hour cap on requests to keep the service available for everyone. Normal personal use never reaches it.
Is Likee Downloader free?
Yes. Likee Downloader is free and requires no account — no signup, no email, no payment details.
Do you store the videos I download?
No. The link is resolved, the file is streamed to your device, and nothing is kept. There is no library of video files.
Why did my Twitter / X link fail?
The usual causes are a private account, a deleted post, an expired short link, or a region-restricted video. None can be worked around by any tool.
Can I download in bulk?
Not yet — one link at a time. Paste a link, download it, then paste the next. Nothing is queued and nothing is kept between downloads, which is also why there is no library to manage.
Is downloading videos legal?
Downloading your own content, or content licensed for reuse, is generally fine. Republishing someone else's video is copyright infringement regardless of how you obtained it. See our Terms of Service.
Is it safe to use this site?
Nothing gets installed, so there is no app asking for permissions and no extension reading your pages — it all runs in the tab you already have open. Paste a link and the file streams straight to your device; nothing is kept afterwards. One thing worth saying plainly: any downloader sees the link you paste, so do not paste a link you would not hand to a stranger.
Can I download Twitter / X videos on a computer?
Yes — any browser on Windows, macOS, Linux or ChromeOS, with nothing to install. The file lands in your Downloads folder, or wherever your browser is set to save files.
The video I downloaded has no sound. Why?
Because the upload itself is silent. Twitter / X publishes one file per video — an MP4 with the picture and the sound stored together — so Likee Downloader never hands you a video-only rendition that is missing a separate audio track. If the file is silent, the uploader posted it that way; nothing was stripped on our side, and we do not re-encode, so whatever sound was there is still there.
Can I download a Twitter / X live stream?
No. A broadcast has no end, so there is no finished file to hand you — this works on posted videos. If the creator keeps the replay, it becomes an ordinary post and downloads like any other.
Does the creator get notified when I download their video?
No. The file is fetched from the public delivery link, so no view and no download is attributed to you. Likee Downloader never connects to a Twitter / X account — not yours, and not the creator's.
